Students Deliver Insights During DoorDash Virtual Live Case Competition
CapSource, an Experiential Learning Company, is excited to announce the winning teams of the IACBE Fall 2020 Virtual Live Case Competition featuring DoorDash. In the undergraduate category, Mounds View High School took the victory with an impressive set of final deliverables, and a team from Florida Tech won among graduate-level competitors!
In total, more than 100 students from around the globe were tasked with Developing a Go-to-Market Strategy for a new DoorDash initiative during the last IACBE competition. Students proudly represented their universities, which included Potsdam University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Lehigh University, University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business, University of Montana, University of Maryl and, Hartwick College, Kardan University, Pepperdine University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, plus the winners!
Since the competition began in September, students have enjoyed face-to-face discussions (via Zoom) with DoorDash leadership as well as multiple chances to hone the universal soft skills that are sure to help them in their future academic and entrepreneurial efforts. Derek, a student from the second place graduate team, described his experience, “From the very first meeting, it was ‘GO!’ The experience was amazing, and I would recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to participate in this type of experiential learning.”
DoorDash’s Project Champion, Chasen White, a senior manager on DoorDash’s Strategy and Operations team, described the strategies as “action-oriented” when he sat down with participants to highlight the successes of the project.
“The students demonstrated impressive creativity and thoroughness in their final reports that will prove as valuable insights for DoorDash. We had a great experience and were proud to be able to engage so many students at the same time in such a meaningful way with the help of CapSource,” Chasen said.
The International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE), a co-organizer of the event, in addition to CapSource and DoorDash, are very proud to see high-school students excel in an exciting, high-stakes, applied learning environment for the first time in this competition setting. CapSource’s Executive Director, Jordan Levy said, “We are ecstatic to see high schools like Mounds View and others across the country taking an interest in professional and career development for their students.”
“We believe activities that require students to work in teams on real-world challenges best prepare them for college and beyond,” he added. “These types of high-impact learning experiences ensure students end up in the right types of academic programs, studying to enter the fields that interest them.”
