Capstone – Project

Develop an e-commerce educational platform/hub for the 21st century learner.

A Collaboration Between

Project Synopsis

One of the most challenging parts of education is meeting the needs of all students. As we know, children grow and develop at varying rates. They need different things at different times, and it’s a monumental task for educators to meet those needs. As educators in the Science/STEM fields, we are big advocates for diverse instruction that connects with students and provides them with the motivation and confidence they need to learn and grow. Career and technical education has always been a vital and important part of a child’s education. It helps to connect students with skills they need in their daily lives, assists them to identify a career path that may be right and compels them to use their body and minds in a way they are not challenged to in their classes, camps and when at home!

As educators we all know that not every student is ready for college and not every important and fulfilling career path requires four years college. There is a high demand for skilled trades as well as many other kinds of jobs. STEM Art Center LLC teaches students to take pride in themselves and their work, and that’s something we can all support as educators and lifelong learners!

Our team together has over 20 years of Science/STEM teaching experience. After putting some forethought, we realized that most of the resources that we get from other institutions and vendors do not meet the students and teachers expectations. According to the new standards adoption called the Next Generation Science Standards, we need resources/projects to elicit the following from students: Student Engage, Student Explore, Student Explanation, Student Elaboration and Student Evaluation. There is a high demand for STEM skills in today’s society, but there are no sustainable solutions to keep students engaged and updated to the latest skill set.

Another point to make, we realized that there are gaps in our current educational model. Students are able to learn and explore at school, but what if students needed better systems and structures at home or camps? We realized that we need the proper resources for students. One of our business model’s called STEM Art Home will provide innovative projects that keep students engaged in the current skills needed for success rather than just looking at a screen for eight long hours!

As a team of Science/STEM leaders in the school district, we are able to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of certain programs in the department working side by side with our teachers. In this role we are constantly taking qualitative and quantitative feedback that is ongoing, this approach helps us adapt to the needs of our students and teachers to positive learning outcomes. We are able to observe, coach and consult with experienced and novice teachers around best practices, especially in the Science/STEM classes.

Seeing the weak side of STEM, encourages the Science/STEM department to work diligently and increase students’ equitable access to STEM hands-on activities. In order to support educators’ knowledge and expertise in the STEM disciplines our team focuses on the preparation and implementation process. To motivate the students, the classroom has to be organized in a fashion that provides enough space to execute the project plans.

The STEM Art Center related projects will support open-inquiry- based pedagogy and active learning. To make all of these efforts more concrete, educators should have well organized, concise, straightforward lesson plan guides along with the proper materials kits. STEM Art Center LLC has done this leg work and provides teachers with all the goodies to promote success.

STEM Art Center LLC will provide for all users:

A browser based application, for making Science/STEM learning meaningful, rigorous and equitable.
Detailed lesson flow, for any learner to understand.
Pacing support that can be adaptable and differentiated for students needs.
A comprehensive, video demonstration exploration.
Research based instructional strategies that work.
A learning platform that provides user friendly options and guidance.
A one-stop shop to make all necessary purchases for schools, camps and homes!
Relevant and coherent content that sparks students’ interests and curiosity!

As we streamlined these lesson plans with our teachers, many teachers provided relevant feedback that supported our mission in improving Science/STEM education. With all the positive feedback, this triggered the idea to digitize our resources and provide them to teachers around the world! Our main website/hub will provide teachers, students and parents the ability to learn together!

Not only will the STEM Art Center LLC provide lesson plans for teachers. We hope to expand our brand to Camps and Home lessons as mentioned above. The intention is to also create coaching/professional development for our teachers which will be called STEM Art Coaching. STEM Art Center LLC will help meet the needs of the educational and professional development by meeting these key core values:

STEM Art Center Core Values:
We are curious to learn! (Curiosity)
We love to create solutions! (Ingenuity)
We apply our learning to new skills! (Influence)
