Live Case – Project

Develop Data Framework for “Eco-Strategy”

A Collaboration Between

Project Synopsis

Eco-Enterprise aims to build a software (portal) called “Eco-Strategy” that is given for FREE to businesses and non-profits. This software will walk clients through a sustainability planning and management process via benchmarked industry/geographical variables pertaining to commercial businesses of the same scale in their area. It will also offer a series of solutions (data + video tutorials) to help them become more 1) economic, 2) efficient and 3) environmental.

The software will eventually incorporate gamification where clients will want to get a higher/better eco-score. It will incorporate concepts from LEED and other sustainable and environmental certifications, however with less barrier to entry and more clarity on usage efficiency and savings. A high “Eco-Score will help generate positive publicity, recognizing the organization as an “eco-enterprise” (certification), generating more attention from conscious consumers to all key stakeholders.
Some of the categories or key performance indicators, but not limited to these, will be used to generate this score(s):
• Real-time and Historical Dollars saved (post implementation of Ee solutions)
• Real-time and Historical Kw energy saved (post implementation of Ee solutions)
• Real-time and Historical Co2 Emission reduced (post implementation of Ee solutions)

Before this step-by-step software can be developed into an easy to read, navigate system, we need a roadmap and wireframe for the layout/process as well as adequate research on marketplace KPIs/metrics. Once complete, clients complete each step/solution; knowing precisely how Efficient, Economic and Environmental their impact (local footprint and global enterprise view) as they are given an “Eco–Score” rating their effectiveness overall or in each separate category. The purpose of this project is to develop the roadmap, wireframe, and set of recommendations for KPI’s.

    • What are the goals for the product that is the focus of this project?
    • What high-level goals does the company want to achieve with this product?
      • What themes emerge? How do you assess priority and justify the inclusion of themes (or not) in the product roadmap?
      • Who is the target audience? What will users gain from the product? How will they benefit? Can you develop a customer persona profile?
    • How do users’ benefits align with business objectives to create a cyclical relationship for the company and their customers?

    Suggested Deliverable:

High-level Thematic Roadmap & Customer Persona Profile

  • October 15, 2021 - Develop Users Stories & Detailed Roadmap

    • How would you design the blueprint (roadmap) for the product in terms of what will be delivered and when from start to launch?
      • How can you begin to layer under them in epics?
      • What special functionalities are needed?
      • How do you assess priority and justify their place on the roadmap in relation to other epics and functionalities? Why are you designing this product that prioritizes certain product characteristics for these consumers in this way?
      • Is the roadmap sufficiently detailed? Flexible?
      • Who is/are the target audience(s) of your roadmap? Do you need more than 1 roadmap given your audience(s)?
    • How will people use the product? How can you translate the roadmap’s epics into user stories?

    Suggested Deliverable:

    Product Roadmap & User Stories

  • November 5, 2021 - Develop prototype wireframes

    • What are the key principles for developing effective wireframes?
    • Research KPI’s/metrics: What metrics are needed for each step/solution? How are these operationalized in the marketplace? How can you move from brainstorming ideas to developing wireframes for developing this product?
      • How would you map out your user flows?
      • What are they trying to accomplish on each screen?
      • How will the screens connect and interact with one another?
      • What is the experience like from users’ perspectives?
    • Develop a prototype to share with the client (industry mentors). What questions do you anticipate? What questions do you have for the client?

    Suggested Deliverable:

    Visualization of Wireframe & Presentation

  • November 26, 2021 - Finalize Roadmap and Wireframe

    • What adjustments, if any, need to be made to the prototype?
    • What other key information can you provide/include to guide developers and esure the quality of your design? For instance:
      • UI elements
      • screen interaction features
      • Fonts, colors, styles.
      • Icons and other graphical elements

    Suggested Deliverable:

    Visual roadmap and wireframe guides
