Capstone – Project

Market analysis for writing and critical thinking in the workplace

A Collaboration Between

Project Synopsis

Prompt is a fast-growing edtech company focusing on English writing skills. We have an English and Workplace Writing Foundations Course and Assessment/Certificate launching in India in August. Prompt currently has two employees in India who have been engaging with universities and companies in the market. There are many universities that will use the product with their students in the fall. We’re trying to get more information on the following:
1. How are writing and critical thinking perceived by university placement offices, hiring managers, and learning and development departments within companies? How does this differ by type of university and company?
2. How are writing and critical thinking being evaluated (if at all) in the hiring and promotion process?
3. What are companies and universities actively doing about writing and critical thinking skills?
4. What should Prompt’s distribution plan be for the workplace writing course? How should we think about pricing and additional upsell offerings (e.g., self-guided versus with instructors)? What universities and companies should we target and who should we target?

We expect students will conduct a market survey of the relevant parties as well as do deep-dive interviews with relevant parties to gain insights into their views on writing and critical thinking. Prompt can provide funds as needed to get participants.
