The Clock is Ticking: Deep Sea Mining Eller Center for Leadership Ethics This case from the University of Arizona’s Center for Leadership Ethics explores the ethical, economic, and environmental complexities of deep-sea mining. As demand for rare-earth minerals such as cobalt and nickel rises—critical components for renewable energy and battery technologies—mining companies are turning to the ocean floor for resources. Participants will analyze battery chemistries, identify top mining companies, and examine each mineral’s path from mine to final product. Sony Open & PGA TOUR: Sponsorship Strategy PGA Tour / Sony Open This project focuses on addressing volunteer recruitment challenges faced by the Sony Open in Hawaii, organized by 141 Hawaii and Friends of Hawaii Charities. Since the pandemic, securing volunteers has been increasingly difficult, despite incentives. Participants will dive into the tournament’s volunteer strategy, evaluate best practices, and propose solutions to improve recruitment, enhance diversity, and retain volunteers year after year.

The goal is to create a comprehensive strategy that attracts volunteers, reduces program costs, and builds a sustainable volunteer base.
