Overview | Givebutter is a social crowdfunding platform for groups and individuals to raise money for a cause. Givebutter is one of the most versatile, low-cost fundraising platforms on the market, with a big emphasis on user experience. Their main users are student organizations, nonprofits, fraternities/sororities, sports teams, startups, and individuals. Givebutter is especially useful for people who wish to fundraise as a group, because of its CRM capabilities and team fundraising features. Givebutter started in Spring 2016 out of a college dorm room at George Washington University with the ambitious goal of bridging the gap between nonprofits and millennials. Their mission has evolved since then to focus less on providing fundraising tools to nonprofits, but rather taking a grassroots approach to engage more young people in fundraising and philanthropy. Givebutter has ambassadors at over 200 college campuses, whose primary responsibility is to encourage their peers to fundraise for good causes on Givebutter, and to spread their mission of giving back. Givebutter currently takes a small percentage of all the funds raised on their platform. The company earns a profit margin of approximately 5% (after CC fees). Since launching in September 2016, they have processed over $500,000 in transactions from 900 campaigns. Future revenue streams, some of which are launching this year, include corporate sponsorships/advertising, events/ticketing revenue, merchandise |
